MOP87.94 million in cash handouts returned to treasury

Over MOP87.94 million in cash handout funds have reverted to the Treasury after exceeding the three-year claim period, according to a TDM report. This was due to uncashed checks, failure to submit proof of life, or subsequent ineligibility. Additionally, the Legislative Assembly’s Second Standing Committee has endorsed an opinion paper regarding the 2026 fiscal year budget bill. The government submitted an amended version of the bill to clarify contentious clauses, stating that if a spouse purchases a residential property, the first MOP6 million of the transaction value will be exempt from stamp duty, regardless of the property regime.
