Mosquito breeding index remains at warning level for second consecutive month

Macau’s mosquito breeding index has remained at the yellow alert level for two consecutive months, indicating widespread distribution of Aedes mosquitoes, the Health Bureau said. The overall ovitrap index reached 57.3% in May and 58.4% in June, with Coloane recording the highest level at more than 85%. Authorities urged residents to remove stagnant water, take preventive measures against mosquito breeding, and use mosquito repellent and wear light-colored long-sleeved clothing when outdoors. The bureau warned that mosquito activity remains high across several districts.
