Filipe Nyusi

The president of Mozambique begun a three-day working visit to the United States of America, which is seen as an opportunity to strengthen political, economic and business relations, Mozambican news agency AIM reported.

On this visit Filipe Nyusi will take part in the 11th Biennial US-Africa Business Summit, an initiative of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) and hold official talks with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and other members of the American government, as well as with economic, financial and scientific institutions.

During the US-Africa Biennial Summit, Mozambique will showcase its potential in various areas of activity, such as the extractive industry, agriculture and agricultural processing, tourism, among others considered crucial to boost economic growth and accelerate the country’s development.

During the three-day visit, Nyusi will hold other meetings, notably those scheduled with Trade Secretary Wilbur Ross, as well as the presidents of Anadarko Petroleum, RA Walker and General Electric Africa, Jay Ireland, groups that involved in projects in Mozambique.

The visit of the President of the Republic to the United States is the second in a little less than a year, as in September 2016 Nyusi was in the country on a working visit ahead of his participation in the United Nations General Assembly.

In addition to Nyusi’s efforts to attract foreign investment, a group of 30 Mozambican business people who have travelled to the US capital on a mission organized by the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique plan to establish partnerships with companies from the US and other countries that will be in Washington.  MDT/Macauhub
