Nine people have already obtained the application form for the Chief Executive election, the Electoral Affairs Commission reported on Friday.
Four of these people have obtained the contact details of the members of the election committee.
Before July 23, any resident interested in the election can request the form and obtain the voters’ contacts. After that date, the commission will review the intended runners’ eligibility for candidacy.
The commission will announce the confirmation of the candidates after the review.
The promotional campaign period will start on August 10, and the commission will organize at least one symposium on the platforms of each candidate during the period.
Last week, a local resident asked the electoral commission to investigate the eligibility of Ho Iat Seng, the frontrunner in the race and former president of the Legislative Assembly (AL).
Song Man Lei, chairman of the commission, has stated that the commission will assess the eligibility of those running.
By the end of July or the beginning of August, the commission plans to release a short video about the election. JZ
