October CPI growth driven by dining and rent

The Composite Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 0.60% year-on-year and 0.03% month-on-month in October 2025, the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) reported on November 21. Over the 12 months ending in October, the average Composite CPI rose 0.26% compared with the previous year, covering November 2023 through October 2024. The Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages category saw a 0.70% year-on-year increase in October, mainly driven by higher costs for eating out and takeaway. Housing & Fuels rose 0.33% due to increased dwelling rentals. Notable year-on-year gains were also recorded in Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco, up 2.48%, and Recreation, Sport & Culture, which grew 2.35%.
