Macau Bats Rugby Club, in conjunction with Wynn, held an Open Day on Sunday (19th) at TIS field in Taipa. More than 70 local children turned up to experience touch rugby for the first time.
The Club has been conducting a number of development programmes in local schools throughout the year and is keen to spread the awareness and enthusiasm for the sport.
Miguel Oliveira, President of the Macau Bats, remarked “It’s great to see more children enjoying and learning how to play rugby. It’s such a good sport for kids to develop self-discipline, teamwork and how to cope with the successes and disappointment of sport. We appreciate the support and involvement of Wynn and we are hoping to see more Macau based rugby teams and players.”
Frederic Luvisutto, Chief Operating Officer of Wynn Macau, Limited, commented “Wynn is pleased to be able to promote and support sport within Macau, particularly rugby since it encourages young children to build fitness and compete. Events like this show that there is an appetite for the sport and the fun it generates amongst local children.” Donald Shaw, MDT
