Seven fall victim to Alipay scam in single day, losing MOP345,000

The Judiciary Police reported receiving seven cases of telephone scams in a single day, in which victims lost a total of MOP345,000. Six of the victims were local residents, ranging from young people to elderly individuals, while one was a mainland migrant worker. All received calls from fraudsters posing as Alipay customer service, falsely claiming that their “security protection plan” had expired. The scammers convinced the victims to provide information and transfer funds, with individual losses ranging from over MOP10,000 to MOP103,000.
