Survey shows 130 types of grains are free of toxins

The Municipal Affairs Bureau tested 130 grain and grain product samples – including white, brown, and germinated rice, as well as cereals – collected from local supermarkets. All samples passed heavy metal and fungal toxin checks and complied with Macau’s food safety standards. The bureau noted that grains can absorb heavy metals during cultivation or become contaminated with fungal toxins due to environmental factors or improper storage. It advises residents to buy grains and related products from reputable retailers.
