Trade between China and Lusophone countries down 25 pct

Trade between China and the Portuguese speaking countries fell 25.36 percent year-on-year to USD21.733 billion in the first quarter of the year, indicate figures from the Chinese Customs Administration released in Macau.
In the first three months of the year China sold goods worth US$10.617 billion (+7.59 percent) to the eight Portuguese language countries and bought merchandise worth US$11.115 billion (-42.25 percent).
With Brazil, China’s main global commercial partner, trade amounted to US$14.377 billion (-20.91 percent), with China selling goods worth US$8.051 billion (+0.27 percent) and buying products worth US$6.326 billion (-3.67 percent).
Regarding Angola, China’s second biggest trading partner among the eight Portuguese language countries, trade during the period amounted to US$5.683 billion (-40.34 percent), with chinese exports worth US$1.402 billion (+54.16 percent) and imports worth US$4.280 billion (-50.32 percent).
Portugal ranks third; its trade with China amounted to US$1.048 billion (+10.63 percent), with Chinese exports worth US$681 million (+11.69 percent) and Portuguese exports worth US$367 million (+8.70 percent).
Bilateral trade with Mozambique stood at US$587 million (+37.02 percent), with China selling products worth US$447 million (+52.91 percent) and buying goods worth US$140 million (+3.04 percent).
The other Portuguese language countries (Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Timor-Leste and São Tomé and Príncipe) recorded trade with China amounting to US$35.08 million in the first quarter.  MDT/Macauhub
