UM research team discovers cell therapy that boosts immunity

University of Macau (UM) Professor Wang Chunming and his team at the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences and the State Key Laboratory of Mechanism and Quality of Chinese Medicine have developed a new cell culture system that uses phase separation to rapidly activate immune cells. Tested on macrophages and T cells, the system reduced activation time by up to 80% and increased target gene expression tenfold. The breakthrough cell therapy offers promising new avenues for treating various diseases and repairing damaged tissue, potentially transforming approaches to immune-based treatments.
