Boxing | Rex Tso and Ng Kuok Kun visit Fuhong Society’s Happy Market

2-Workshop-2Professional boxers from Hong Kong and Macau, Rex Tso and Ng Kuok Kun, have visited the Fuhong Society of Macau’s Happy Market ahead of their upcoming fights at a boxing event that will take place this Saturday at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Arena.
The Fuhong Society of Macau is a non-profit organization founded by a group of volunteers to serve the needs of Macau’s mentally handicapped community. Happy Market is a social enterprise that collects and restores first and second-
hand goods for reselling and donating to the underprivileged, as well as transforming discarded materials into creative products to promote recycling and conservation. The initiative aims to provide employment opportunities for disadvantaged groups and people with disabilities, and also serves as a platform to showcase and sell handmade artwork by Fuhong members.
A Fuhong representative gave the fighters an introduction to Happy Market and presented some of its members’ artwork. Tso and Ng then learned how to make handicrafts during a workshop led by some Fuhong members.
Yesterday’s visit was organized by the Sands China Community Academy, which hosts community outreach initiatives. “It was wonderful to have Rex and KK [Ng] come visit us and spend time with our members,” said Jennifer Chau, director of the Fuhong Society of Macau, as cited in a press release issued by Sands China. “They’re both very genuine people and that comes through in their interactions; our members really enjoyed working with them on the handicrafts today.”
