The Buzz | 10 arrests for alleged match fixing in Wales’ top division

The Welsh football federation says 10 people have been arrested for an alleged plot to fix a match in the Welsh Premier League in April.
The federation says “seven men and three women were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud” in an investigation by South Wales Police’s economic crime unit.
No players were identified, though the federation says “it will not bring any sporting sanctions against any individuals while the police investigation is ongoing.”
The case began after reports of suspicious betting patterns linked to Rhyl’s 5-0 win over Port Talbot on Apr. 9.
It was Rhyl’s first win in almost six months before it finished 11th in the 12-team, semi-professional league, which provided no players to Wales’ squad at the European Championship. Wales was a surprise semifinalist.
