Run-to-Give-(Sheraton-Macao-Hotel-&-The-St.-Regis-Macao)Sheraton Macao Hotel and the St. Regis Macao, both in Cotai Central, hosted a “Run to Give” charity race at the Macau University of Science and Technology on October 11 to raise funds for the Fuhong Society of Macau.
More than 70 associates from both hotels participated in the charity run, which also marks the commencement of Together As One (TAO) in the Asia-Pacific – Starwood’s annual global volunteer campaign.
This year’s event raised MOP25,000 and is part of Starwood Hotel & Resorts’ efforts to give back to the local community. The hotel organization has now dedicated the month of October to TAO to encourage additional volunteers and to celebrate the voluntary work of their associates.
Sheraton Macao Hotel bellman Mr Fu Cheng Guang won the Men’s three-kilometer race with an impressive time of 13 minutes, 17 seconds. Returning champion Ms Chen Jie Xing, who is a housekeeping attendant for Sheraton Macao Hotel, won the Women’s three-kilometer “Run to Give” race for a second year in a row with a time of 15 minutes, 31 seconds. A three-kilometer team race was also held, which the “Forever Champions” team won, setting a record team time of just 12 minutes, 23 seconds.
“’Run to Give’ was a tremendous success this year, and everyone had a great time giving back to the community,” said Rachel Chan, General Manager of Human Resources for Sheraton Macao Hotel and the St. Regis Macao. “We’re thrilled that we were able to raise funds in support of the Fuhong Society of Macau.”
The “Run to Give” charity event was organized by the Human Resources team with the help of other hotel associates who volunteered their time. All funds raised will be donated to the society.
The Fuhong Society of Macau is a non-profit organization that aims to provide opportunities for persons with disabilities to ensure that they can achieve the greatest independence possible within their circumstances. The services that the society provides include occupational skills development and training, employment services and a community support service.
