Corruption | Aide to ex-security czar gets 12 years for bribes

Chinese state media say a former aide to the country’s disgraced security czar has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for taking bribes.
The official Xinhua News Agency said yesterday that Ji Wenlin, former deputy governor of the southern island province of Hainan, was found guilty of taking more than 20 million yuan (USD3 million) in bribes from 2000 to 2013. For part of that time, Ji served as an aide to former security czar Zhou Yongkang in the central government before transferring to Hainan.
Zhou is a former member of the ruling Communist Party’s Politburo Standing Committee, the apex of power in China. Once in charge of the vast security apparatus, he was sentenced to life in 2015 for corruption amid President Xi Jinping’s sweeping crackdown on corruption. AP
