Dozens of public works sites show minor deficiencies in enclosure standards

More than a dozen public construction sites across the city have been flagged for minor deficiencies in fencing and site management, following inspections by a government task force aimed at improving the city’s urban environment.
According to the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), a total of 44 public works sites were inspected by the task force on Construction Site Enclosure and Management under the Working Group for Urban Beautification and Cleanliness.
While the majority met the required standards, 14 sites were found to be slightly below compliance. IAM stated that these issues have since been corrected and that follow-up monitoring will continue.
The inspections were launched in June, after the introduction of new guidelines that classify enclosure measures into four categories based on project size, timeline, and on-site conditions. The task force assessed various elements including the condition of scaffolding and netting, temporary pedestrian paths, fencing facilities, and overall tidiness.
Officials said that during the early phase of implementation, non-compliant sites would be issued reminders before stricter enforcement is applied.
The task force expects to complete inspections of all public sites by early July and will begin checking private construction projects in mid-July. Briefing sessions for the construction sector were held earlier to explain the updated standards.
