The international governing body of world football, FIFA, announced that the FIFA Museum will be in Hong Kong this May for six months.
The showcase will open to the public on May 28 at Times Square in Causeway Bay, showcasing the global game’s heritage, and featuring several educational elements designed for school groups, families, and younger visitors.
The exhibition invites visitors on an immersive journey into the history of football, featuring a selection of original objects, trophies, multimedia installations, and stories curated by the FIFA Museum. The new exhibition in Hong Kong will also celebrate the most memorable FIFA World Cup moments and unforgettable FIFA Women’s World Cup milestones.
Visitors will experience the FIFA Museum’s iconic “The Rainbow,” an installation comprising the jerseys of all 211 FIFA Member Associations, which celebrates the game’s global reach and diversity, as well as its ability to connect people and nations.
Meanwhile, a purpose-built cinema space will be available to screen the FIFA Museum’s popular short films, “The Final” and “The Path of Champions.”
Located in Times Square, the exhibition provides accessibility for fans not only from Hong Kong but also from neighboring regions and those traveling through the Asian hub.
The exhibition is brought to Hong Kong in partnership with Asia Partners, the same company that previously brought the CR7 Life Museum to the city.
On the unveiling of the FIFA Museum in Hong Kong, Marco Fazzone, managing director of the FIFA Museum, said, “We are excited to present ‘FIFA Museum Hong Kong’ and to bring the rich heritage and culture of the global game to audiences in this wonderful city.”
“This special exhibition represents another important step in our mission to share the magic of football with everyone around the world. By presenting original objects and their stories from our official FIFA Museum collection, we look forward to offering visitors in Hong Kong a fantastic chance to experience football’s fascinating history, unforgettable moments, and iconic teams and players that have shaped the game,” he added.
At the same opportunity, Filipe Gonçalves, chairman of Asia Partners, added, “Asia Partners is proud to bring the FIFA Museum to Hong Kong and to collaborate on this exciting international project. The exhibition will offer local football fans, cultural enthusiasts, kids and families, and tourists in Hong Kong and across the region a unique opportunity to experience the rich heritage and global story of international football. We are very excited to contribute to making this cultural initiative possible and to welcoming it to Hong Kong.”
