Gaming tax dips in May, fiscal surplus widens

Macau’s gaming tax revenue fell in May, declining 15.6% month on month to MOP7.65 billion, according to the Financial Services Bureau (DSF). From January to May, gaming tax revenue reached MOP42.52 billion, up 14.6% year on year, with an execution rate of 46%. Gaming taxes accounted for 85% of total public revenue, which stood at MOP49.68 billion. Public expenditure totaled MOP31.11 billion, leaving a fiscal surplus of MOP18.57 billion, up 55% from a year earlier. The surplus execution rate reached 3.5 times its target by the end of May.
