The Consumer Council (CC) and the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) have been monitoring the price situation in the market amid the launch of the consumption subsidy tomorrow. When the consumption voucher was first launched in May 2020, the government said it had received nearly 400 reports of supermarket overpricing, allegedly coinciding with the start of the e-voucher subsidy scheme. The CC said in a statement that it has continued to strengthen price surveys, closely monitor prices, and it has arranged to collect further price data to enable consumers to compare prices.
