Jury, films set for Macao International Shorts Festival

The Macao International Shorts Film Festival has confirmed its prestigious jury lineup, featuring Icelandic-German director Gunnur Martinsdóttir Schlüter, whose film FÁR received a Special Mention at Cannes and won Best Short Film at last year’s inaugural festival.
Also on the panel are Danish director Lasse Lyskjær Noer, whose Knight of Fortune was Oscar-shortlisted, and Belgian short film distributor Ben Vandendaele, with more than 200 titles screened at major festivals including Berlin, Cannes, and Venice.
The festival, jointly organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), will be held from September 14 to 21.
It features five sections showcasing a diverse range of short films from local and international filmmakers.
Among the five sections, “Macao Shorts” showcases ten shortlisted local productions competing for awards. The shortlisted works include Chuff Chuff Chuff by Chao Koi Wang, Cockroach Family by Ho Cheok Pan, Fox Box by Ao Ka Meng, Girl with Amen by Teng Kun Hou, Granny Pirate 3: Typhoon Again by Ho Wai Tong, Hand Hand by Jarvis Xin, Nuptial Flight by Chan Chon Sin, Purple by Ho Keung Un, The Performance by Keo Lou, and Waves Under the Sea by Chan Si Ieong.
Additionally, the festival presents 26 international works from 2024–2025 across various genres, including animation, experimental, fiction, and documentary.
It will also highlight 10 outstanding short films from East Asia, competing for the “East Asia of Tomorrow Award.” Another section features classic films by Japanese director Nobuhiro Yamashita, including a 20th-anniversary screening of Linda Linda Linda.
