As part of Greater Bay Area cultural and tourism synergy, the 2026 GBA Lantern Carnival was unveiled in Hong Kong for its Nansha (Guangzhou) edition. Running 90 days from early February, the festival will showcase more than 100 lantern installations along a 2.5 km route and include performances and interactive zones. Hong Kong and Macau visitors get travel subsidies and discounts at partner hotels and attractions, amplifying cross-boundary cultural and tourism flows. Meanwhile, local planning in Shenzhen is accelerating cross-border scientific cooperation, with moves to enhance infrastructure links like streamlining customs checkpoints for research traffic between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, supporting the broader GBA innovation agenda.
