Macau Executive Council Member, Mr Lionel Leong, said yesterday that he’s willing to accept any government position if invited. His name has emerged as one of the possible five secretaries to take office during Chui Sai On’s second term. On the sidelines of a ceremony held at the Macau International Trade & Investment Fair (MIF), Lionel Leong told reporters that he is willing to take on any government post through which he could serve the people of Macau and mainland China.
“Regardless of the job post, and as long as I am granted an opportunity to serve my country and Macau, I am willing to accept it. But I would like to stress that at this moment we should focus on the current government, and how they do a better job acting as platform to tackle social problems, while boosting our economy,” he said.
Upon being asked whether Mr Chui had already invited him to serve as one of the government’s five secretaries, he said he would not comment any further on the matter.
Current Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Francis Tam, did not confirm if he will be leaving his post after serving for 15 years.
