Yesterday, Macau Theme Park and Resort Limited (MTPR) held a recruitment fair for its upcoming integrated resort project, Lisboeta, offering 1,500 vacancies for 180 non-gaming positions.
The1,500 job vacancies were available for Macau local residents. Staff members for frontline to management levels at multiple departments were recruited at the fair, including corporate marketing, front-of-office, housekeeping, and food and beverage.
Approximately 80 jobseekers, mostly local residents, were at the fair when it opened at 10 a.m.
Brian Tong, a local resident in his 40s, visited the fair seeking a managerial position in the food and beverage department.
“I have worked in food departments in hotels for more than 20 years. This time, it is the opening of a new hotel. The opening of a hotel is interesting and challenging,” said Tong, explaining his background and the reason he wanted a job at Lisboeta.
Tong hoped that the company would offer a salary corresponding to the market rate.
Local resident Ana Carmelita Flores submitted her application for the position of ambassador at the fair.
“I have experience working in a hotel. This is my second time looking for a job,” said Flores, who had resigned from her previous job to embrace motherhood.
Flores believes that Listoeta will offer its employees a competitive salary.
Another local resident, surnamed Lau, returned to Macau from mainland China to develop his career. He expects a prosperous future for themed hotels.
Despite the fact that the fair was mainly aimed at local residents, it still welcomed many walk-ins from non-local residents, who were seen filling out application forms.
According to MTPR, the Lisboeta is expected to open in 2020. It will house three hotels: the Lisboeta Hotel, Maison L’Occitane and Casa de Aigo, offering 820 guestrooms in total.
