LRT to introduce QR-code ticketing

Macau’s light rail system is set to introduce QR-code ticketing for MPay, Alipay, WeChat Pay, and other major platforms, with new gates expected in the third quarter of 2026. The announcement came during the second public consultation on the city’s light rail development, attended by about 60 residents. Attendees also provided feedback on six proposed new routes, focusing on transfer convenience, station design, and integration with bus ticketing. The Macao Light Rapid Transit Corporation said that once the new gates are installed, both old and new machines will operate simultaneously.
