MGM has launched the 12th edition of its Junior Lion Dance Summer Class in partnership with the Wushu General Association of Macau, continuing efforts to promote Lingnan lion dance training among young children. The program targets children aged 5 to 8 and offers structured introductory training focused on basic techniques, rhythm, and teamwork.
Organizers said the initiative aims to strengthen systematic talent development and promote lion dance as both a cultural heritage practice and a “citywide sport.” The program builds on a long-term partnership between MGM and the association since 2010, which has included competitions and youth training projects.
Since 2015, the summer class has trained more than 740 participants and reached about 70% of local schools in Macau.
Applications are open until June 4, with 175 places available. Classes will run from July 15 to August 28 in the Barra District, with selection by draw if oversubscribed.
