Sands China unveils revamped Londoner grand casino

Sands China Ltd. has officially opened the remodeled Londoner Grand Casino, formerly known as the Pacifica, at The Londoner Macao resort.

The grand unveiling occurred late last week, marking a significant milestone for the casino operator amid a competitive gaming landscape.

A spokesperson for Sands China expressed excitement about the Sept. 26 opening, stating, “We are pleased to confirm The Londoner Grand Casino opened to the public at noon today,” as cited in a GGR Asia report.

This revitalization aligns with the concessionaires gearing up for the upcoming Golden Week holidays from Oct. 1 – 7, a peak period for tourism and gaming revenue.

The renovation of the casino space was anticipated by industry analysts, including in a recent note from Goldman Sachs (Asia) Ltd., which suggested the revamped area might open just in time for Golden Week.

The report indicated the former Pacifica gaming area had been closed while preparations were underway to enhance its offerings.

The Londoner Grand Casino said it will cater to both premium and mass-market customers, incorporating over 20 gaming tables previously relocated to a temporary premium mass area during renovations.

This strategic shift is part of Sands China’s broader USD1.2 billion (MOP9.6 billion) investment plan to transform the Londoner Macao – as part of its ongoing capital reinvestment program.

In addition to the casino, the hotel component of The Londoner Macao is undergoing significant changes.

Approximately 2,500 to 3,000 rooms from the former Sheraton hotel are being renovated and rebranded as part of The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts by Marriott International Inc.

This rebranding effort will increase the number of suites from 360 to 1,500.

“This extraordinary hotel will serve as a gateway to Macau’s fascinating cultural heritage,” said Grant Chum, CEO and president of Sands China Ltd.

Sands China said its accommodation will feature “an elegant townhouse atmosphere inspired by the prestigious Mayfair district of London.”

Certain suites will include “private terraces, dedicated children’s rooms, state-of-the-art media rooms, and exclusive private plunge pools,” according to the announcement. Nadia Shaw
