A second business matching session was held yesterday at the Ballroom of Wynn Macau. The “2016 Second Quarter Wynn Local SME Procurement Partnership Program – Business Matching Session in Facilities Category” attracted nearly 90 local merchants to attend the event.
The company presented an overview of its basic operations, as well as procurement procedures and requirements, to the attending SMEs. The company also met with local companies in a follow-up discussion. Three city banks – Bank of China Macau Branch, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Macau, and Banco Nacional Ultramarino – also attended the meeting in order to provide local SMEs with any needed business information.
A further highlight of the day was the “Procurement Platform Mobile App Design Competition” award presentation ceremony. The competition was co-hosted by Wynn Macau and by the Macao Chamber of Commerce (MCC). The panel was composed of representatives of the aforementioned organizations, as well as of representatives from other governmental departments and associations.
According to Wynn Macau, the mobile app will enable local SMEs to access opportunities presented by larger corporations, and to foster the growth of the local technology industry. Wynn informed that the platform will be open to the public, free of charge, “in a collaborative effort to promote mutually beneficial development.”
Currently, the gaming operator plans to provide a total of 36 categories of procurement items, and expects to organize quarterly business matching sessions. According to Wynn Macau, “the development of local enterprises is crucial in promoting the diversification of Macau’s economy.”
Chui Yuk Lum António, vice-president of the board of directors of MCC, informed that the participants of the program praised the offer of these opportunities made by large companies to SMEs. “The SMEs have confidence and hopes in the large gaming companies,” said Chui. In addition, Chui also applauded the local government for its “hard work” in helping small companies to grow. “The government hopes large companies can help small companies to develop themselves,” he noted, adding that through the program, SMEs can improve the quality of their products in order to meet the requirements of large companies.
Yesterday’s business matching session was supported by several governmental departments, including the Secretariat for Economy and Finance, and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute.
Wynn Macau issued a press release noting that this year’s opening of the Wynn Palace, in the Cotai area, will bring more business opportunities to local enterprises, thus further developing the local supply chain.  Staff reporter
