A fond farewell: Hello Kitty designer Yuko Yamaguchi visits Hong Kong

For 46 years, Ms. Yuko Yamaguchi has shaped the face of a global icon. This July, the legendary Hello Kitty designer makes her final visit to Hong Kong in her current role, offering fans a rare, heartfelt opportunity to bid farewell before she passes the baton to Sanrio’s next generation.
The visit features intimate autograph sessions at the Sanrio Gift Gate Central flagship store and ACGHK, alongside a special tea gathering exclusively for Hong Kong and Macau fans. It is a deeply meaningful occasion—a chance to thank the woman who, since 1980, has transformed Hello Kitty into a timeless cross-cultural phenomenon, bridging fashion, art, and pop culture across generations.
To honor her distinctive creative spirit, Sanrio debuts the limited “Hello Kitty Dress Up Series.” Inspired by Ms. Yamaguchi’s personal style, the collection embodies her ethos of creativity, self-expression, and joy.
Though she will soon step aside for new designers, her legacy remains unwavering. As Ms. Yamaguchi herself says, “Next One”—her focus has always been on the surprises yet to come. This final Hong Kong chapter isn’t an ending, but a celebration of the warmth and friendships she has built, welcoming a bright new era for Hello Kitty. IS
