AACM discusses air traffic management with HK and China

The aeronautical authorities of mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau met last week to discuss the coordination of air traffic management in the Pearl River Delta region (PRD) and agreed to follow the principle of joint development for future work.

At the two-day meeting in Changsha, Hunan, the three parties discussed the status of air traffic management in the region as well as its future development, according to a press release issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Macau (AACM).

During the discussions, the Macau delegation presented a proposal to optimize the procedures for the North-to-South approach at the Macau International Airport’s runway 16.

The three parties agreed to table this proposal to be discussed in subsequent meetings by a technical working group.

In 2004, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) and AACM set up a regular meeting mechanism, with the establishment of a supervisory working group and a technical working group to enhance the coordination of air traffic management in the PRD.

In May this year in Hong Kong, the three authorities signed another agreement to enhance air traffic management cooperation in the region, so as to maintain closer ties with each other in their work.
