Painters stripe an Embraer SA Phenom 100 jet at the company’s executive jet manufacturing facility in Melbourne, Florida, U.S.
The Air France/KLM group has ordered 17 jet aircraft from Brazilian aeronautical company Embraer for KLM Cityhopper, KLM’s regional subsidiary, Embraer said in a statement issued in Sao Jose dos Campos.
The order from the Brazilian aircraft company includes fifteen E175 jets (seating for 88 passengers) and two E190 aircraft (114 passengers) and the contract includes options for 17 additional E-Jets for KLM Cityhopper or for HOP!, which is a regional subsidiary of Air France.
The contract is worth US$1.5 billion if all options are exercised, with the firm order for KLM Cityhopper worth USD764 million.
Embraer also reported that 17 new aircraft will join “the 28 E190s which are currently part of the KLM Cityhopper fleet, replacing 19 Fokker F70 jets, the airline is taking out of service.
Delivery of the first E190 is scheduled to occur by the end of the year and the first E175 will be added to the KLM Cityhopper fleet in the first half of 2016.
KLM Cityhopper operates around 300 daily flights for KLM, serving cities throughout Europe, 54 of which are essentially business destinations. MDT/Macauhub
