AirAsia has been recognized as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for 2025 by AirlineRatings.com.
The ranking evaluates airlines based on factors such as pricing, route network, onboard services, and safety, with top low-cost carriers required to maintain a seven-star safety rating.
Since launching in 2001 with two aircraft, AirAsia has expanded to serve over 130 destinations across Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia, flying more than 800 million passengers to date.
In 2024 alone, it carried 63 million passengers with an 89% load factor.
In Macau, local airport authorities said that AirAsia’s top management has recently shown renewed interest in expanding operations in the region.
The airline has presented three- and five-year plans, which airport authorities are currently evaluating.
