Suspension of customs officer continues

A customs officer who was suspended for 80 days after hanging China’s national flag upside down has had his employement suspension appeal rejected by the Court of Final Appeal. Last year, the officer hung the Chinese flag incorrectly at the Coloane pier. The officer argued that the Judiciary Police failed to provide evidence to prove that he was the one who had hung the flag incorrectly. The court rejected his appeal on the grounds that the misconduct had damaged the reputation of Macau Customs Services in the eyes of the public, and reiterated that hanging the national flag upside down is a serious violation.
