Briefs | New DICJ head meets with casinos to discuss new measures

The new director of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), Adriano Marques Ho, visited casinos last week to observe the implementation of new health measures designed to prevent an outbreak of Covid-19. The director met with officials from the six gaming concessionaires and sub-concessionaires, and explained the new measures to protect both staff and customers. As part of the new measures, any visitor entering a casino must present a negative Covid-19 nucleic acid test certification. Casino staff will also be progressively tested for the virus, however, they will not be required to repeat testing periodically. The DICJ has requested that casino operators clearly display these new requirements at the over 400 customer and 47 staff entries and exits to their premises.

Fisherman’s Wharf opens new exhibition center

Macau Fisherman’s Wharf held a grand opening ceremony for its newly revamped Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday. According to the operator of the themed entertainment complex on the Macau peninsula, Macau Legend Development, the new center will support the push to develop the territory into a regional destination for conferences and events. With a total area of 5,260 square meters, the facility is the oldest and largest pillar-less venue for meetings and banquets on the peninsula, according to Macau Legend. The venue has three main halls, five multi-function rooms, two VIP rooms and a spacious foyer for cocktail receptions. The venue is able to accommodate up to 3,000 people.
