Environmental scholar and expert Professor Lan Hong will be the keynote speaker for the 2023 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2023MIECF).
She is slated to deliver a speech on deepening co-operation on green finance and working together to achieve carbon neutrality at the opening ceremony tomorrow.
The speech tackles how to drive forward carbon reduction and create development opportunities through green finance.
Lan is the deputy director of the Eco-finance Research Centre of the Renmin University of China, deputy director of the Green Finance Branch of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, and deputy director of the Green Finance Professional Committee of the China Association of Environmental Protection Industry.
Every year, MIECF invites prominent figures in global environmental sectors to give keynote addresses to lead the discussion on the latest developments in related fields to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and opinions.
With the theme, “Building an Ecological Civilisation Through Innovative Initiatives,” the four-day event aims to promote international exchanges and co-operation on environmental protection among different sectors.
In a press conference yesterday, the organizer, Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, said that this year’s exhibition covers an area of more than 10,000 square meters, with a total of nearly 500 booths in seven exhibition areas, attracting more than 400 exhibitors. The exhibitors increased by more than 50%. 40 of these are overseas exhibitors, equating to 73% of overseas exhibitors prior to the pandemic.
