AEN20141014003051320_02_iHotel Shilla, which operates a namesake duty free chain, said yesterday it has won a deal to operate one of two duty free sections at Macau International Airport.
Sky Shilla Duty Free Limited, a consortium comprised of the Samsung affiliate and Hong Kong-based Sky Connection, will start operating the 1,122-square-meter space for five years starting Nov. 7, the company said in a press release.
Shilla, which holds a 40-percent stake in the consortium, will be responsible for merchandising perfume, cosmetics and fashion brands. Its partner will manage the liquor and tobacco sections, according to the company.
Given that over 60 percent of Macau airport users are Chinese, Shilla said it plans to focus on selling South Korean cosmetics brands that are popular among Chinese shoppers.
