For the third consecutive year, between July 27 and 29 a group of 30 MGM Volunteer Team members set out for care homes in different parts of the region to offer free haircuts to 160 senior citizens as part of the “Haircut of Love” campaign.
Over two months, MGM invited professional hairstylists from the Hair & Beauty Professionals Association of Macau to train its Volunteer Team, including management, to acquire hairstyling skills during their spare time.
MGM has extended the haircut service to two additional charitable organizations, where its volunteers took care of senior residents with health and mobility impairments.
The “Haircut of Love” was part of MGM’s fourth Community Care Campaign, which ranged from giving haircuts to seniors and a culinary “fun day” with the mentally disabled to renovating the walls of youth dormitory rooms. The campaign was held between July 18 and 29.
CEM holds Eco tour in Hong Kong
Twenty winners of the online quiz “Green Light in Macau” Lucky Draw were brought to Hong Kong for an ecological tour on August 1.
The tour began in the morning with visits to the Hong Kong Railway Museum and the Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree at Tai Po district. The visit to the “Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden” in the afternoon was cancelled due to the threat of typhoon Nida.
Participants discovered that Hong Kong has conserved a large area of green belt zones and performs well in terms of the conservation and utilization of plants.
The online quiz organized by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau and CEM attracted over 3,500 responses from local citizens.
According to CEM, the company has implemented environmental protection and sustainable development policies. It also co-organizes various activities with different institutions and organizations every year to promote environmental protection.
