Financial reserve grows by over MOP37 billion in first half of 2026
Macau’s financial reserve grew by more than MOP37 billion in the first half of 2026, reaching over MOP704 billion by the end of June, according to figures published in the Official Gazette. Data from the Monetary Authority of Macao showed that the reserve increased by about MOP2 billion in June, following a balance of more than MOP702 billion in May. The reserve grew by MOP50.5 billion throughout 2025. At the end of June, the extraordinary reserve stood at MOP518.4 billion, while the basic reserve totaled MOP163.6 billion, equivalent to 150% of Macau’s public budget. The reserve’s assets included MOP300 billion in outsourced investments, MOP294 billion in deposits and current accounts, and MOP108 billion in debt securities.
