Free tickets available for test events ahead of National Games

As part of preparations for the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Sports Organization Games (NSOG), free tickets for upcoming Special Olympics badminton test competitions have been made available to the public this week.

The test events, designed to fine-tune logistics and facilities ahead of the main games, will take place at the Macau East Asian Games Dome on August 16 and 17. On August 16, the competition will begin at 2 p.m., followed by badminton matches on August 17 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Both days will feature invited teams from Guangdong and Macau.

Residents and visitors can collect up to two free tickets per person until Friday, with distribution handled through designated points including the venue box office.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Organizers advise ticket holders to arrive one hour before the events and adhere to venue protocols.

Tickets for the upcoming events can also be collected at several locations across Macau, including the Macau Federation of Trade Unions and the Macau Women’s Federation Family Service Center, which offers extended hours midweek and on Fridays.

On event days, August 16 and 17, tickets can additionally be collected at the Macau Dome’s Hall A Ticket Collection Counter.

Pun Weng Kun, director of the Macau Competition Zone Preparation Office, shared with local media yesterday that arrangements are progressing smoothly ahead of the National Games: “the preparation of the reception team, and preparations for other software or hardware aspects, everything is at a tightly coordinated stage,” said Pun.

Pun also highlighted that the command center project, which will house the press and broadcasting centers for the Macau competition zone, has been initiated.

This facility, located within the Macau East Asian Games Dome, is scheduled for completion by mid-September.

The National Games are expected to welcome over 1,000 athletes and around 4,000 officials, referees, staff, and media members to Macau.

To accommodate them, a “small athlete’s village” has been arranged in cooperation with local travel agencies and hotels. Highlighting Macau’s hospitality, Pun said, “With Macau’s rich tourism experience and hospitality capacity, we are very confident that we can fully meet all the needs of our travelers who come to watch the games.”

Ahead of the December events, the first batch of real-name tickets for the 15th National Games and Paralympics will be available for sale from August 28. Real-name registration opened yesterday via the official ticketing platform, and Pun encourages residents to register early to secure access to the sporting events.
