The Government Information Bureau (GCS) hosted a media gathering yesterday, inviting representatives from media organizations to promote dialogue and foster greater collaboration.
“We hope to create a platform that strengthens interaction and exchange among media,” said acting director Louie Wong.
In his brief speech, Wong described 2026 as a significant year for China and Macau.
“This year marks the start of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, the fifth anniversary of the Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, and Macau will host the APEC Tourism Ministers’ Meeting in June,” he said.
“Last year, the eighth Legislative Assembly election was successfully held. The 15th Games, jointly organized by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, as well as events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in China’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, were also successfully carried out,” he added.
Wong praised the media’s contribution, concluding: “These achievements were made possible thanks to media coordination and support, and your continued attention and reporting have greatly helped disseminate information widely and promote better governance.”
He also noted the government’s expectation that the media continue assisting in promoting government initiatives, gathering public opinion, and building social consensus. LV
