In-house enterprises at Guangdong-Macao Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Industrial Park in Hengqin generated an output value of over 1.5 billion yuan (USD36 million) in 2021. Under the
“Sci-Tech Achievements From Macao + Industrial Transformation in Zhuhai” mode, the industrial park is becoming a high-level IC innovation platform, industrial service carrier, and industrial exchange and cooperation center.
The park was established as an international first-class professional park by Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Group and Zhuhai Advanced Integrated Circuit Research Institute at the Hengqin International Science & Technology Innovation Center. The park provides IC design companies with professional incubators, investment funds, and public technological platforms.
To enhance Macau’s industrial diversification, the park assists Hengqin and Macau in transforming and incubating scientific research achievements, talent introduction and cultivation, and breeding of hard-core IC industrial clusters. It is now home to high-quality IC design firms such as Chipone, Innosilicon, and Biren Technology.
The park also facilitates a cross-border flow of innovative IC talent, technology and capital. Its goal is to attract 50 IC design enterprises to Hengqin by 2026, with an estimated industrial scale of 5 billion yuan ($786 million).
Integrated circuit is an emerging industry which supports the digital economy and new infrastructure, as well as Macau’s industrial diversification.
As of March 2022, there were 10,000 sci-tech companies registered in Hengqin, with 3,000 newcomers in 2021. Staff Reporter
