Hong Kong is set to resume the transfer of bodies awaiting burial in mainland China via a land crossing later this week, according to media reports. The move would clear at least 200 stuck in the city for more than a year, due to Covid restrictions. “The [central government] liaison office and the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office took part in pushing for this decision. They were very concerned about this,” said Transport sector lawmaker Frankie Yick Chi-ming. The Heung Yuen Wai control point would be used to start clearing the backlog “ this week” following a trial run Tuesday.
