Leong and Denning earn two podium finishes, extend lead in championship

Macau racer Charles Leong and his teammate Alex Denning (Ireland) continue their successful campaign in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia (LSTA) Championship, accumulating crucial points.
This weekend, the SJM Theodore Racing duo extended their championship lead by securing two podium finishes at LSTA Round 4, held at Korea’s Inje Speedium.
In Race 1, held Saturday afternoon, Leong and Denning finished second behind BC Racing’s car No. 11, driven by Gavin Huang (Taiwan) and Jonathan Cecotto (Monaco). They finished just 0.8 seconds behind the winners. The podium was completed by Racegraph’s car No. 7, with Peter Li (China) and Jungwoo Lee (Korea) at the wheel.
Yesterday, starting second on the grid, the SJM Theodore Racing Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 No. 32 reached the top spot on the podium after a thrilling race.
During the final stint, Denning made a dramatic push to overtake Huang in car No. 11, finally doing so on the last lap.
Just minutes earlier, Race Control had issued a 0.9-second penalty to car No. 32 for speeding in the pit lane, meaning Denning needed to not only pass Huang but also build a gap of at least 0.9 seconds.
Thanks to an impressive drive, Denning crossed the finish line 1.3 seconds ahead of Huang, who had also been slowed down by a last-lap battle with Li, who was attempting a final pass for second.
By the weekend’s end, Leong and Denning had once again scored a P1 and P2, repeating their results from previous rounds in Fuji (Japan) and Shanghai (China).
With five wins and three second-place finishes in eight races, the pair now lead the championship with 113 points, 32 points ahead of Huang and Cecotto in second place.
After the race, Leong said, “P1 and P2 this week at Korea Inje Speedium. We showed a lot of speed and an amazing team effort! Looking forward to the next race in Malaysia. Let’s continue to extend the championship lead and bring the championship back home.”
The LSTA now enters a two-month summer break, returning for Round 5 (of 6) the first weekend of September with two races at Sepang Circuit in Malaysia.
The championship will conclude on Nov. 6–7 at Misano (Italy), followed by the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals at the same track on Nov. 8–9.
