Macau experienced unusually warm weather ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, with temperatures approaching 30 degrees Celcius in coastal areas, meteorological authorities said. The reading was among the highest recorded before the festival in recent decades. Weather forecasters expected a northeasterly monsoon to reach southern China early in the Lunar New Year period. Similar unseasonably warm conditions were also reported in neighbouring regions.
