Taipa fireworks zone collects 23 tonnes of waste during CNY

About 23 tonnes of waste were collected at the city’s only Chinese New Year firecracker zone in Taipa during its six-day operation from Feb. 16 to 21. The amount was about nine tonnes less than the combined waste recorded at the two zones in 2025. The deployment of cleaning personnel and vehicles remained unchanged from last year. The 2026 firecracker zone has now ceased operation, and the Municipal Affairs Bureau has collected unused items from designated lighting areas and is destroying them at the Taipa firecracker display site in batches starting yesterday morning.
