TDM informs MP
of rally incident

TDM has submitted a report to the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) about an incident involving five journalists who were allegedly harassed by demonstrators during Wednesday’s rally organized by the Forefront of Macau Gaming (FMG) outside The Venetian Macao. “During the incident, the protestors used coarse language towards the reporters and surrounded the news coverage vehicle, which was also hit. According to the five journalists, they only managed to break free from the siege following the intervention of a leader of the protest,” TDM’s statement reads. Furthermore, according to the broadcaster, “the protestors’ behavior clearly obstructed the freedom of the press to report relevant events.” The incident occurred after a number of protestors saw a report on TDM’s website which, they believed, underestimated the number of people gathered at the event.

Convicted for bribing driver license examiner

A man has been sentenced to seven months imprisonment, suspended for a year and a half, after he was convicted of attempting to bribe a license test examiner on July 21.
Information from the Public Prosecution Office (MP) shows that the 55-year-old local was taking a driving test when he pushed a MOP1,000 note into the hand of the examiner, in an attempt to bribe him and to ensure that he passed the examination. However, he was immediately reported by the officials of the Transport Bureau and was referred to the Public Prosecution Office by the Commission Against Corruption. The Prosecution analyzed the case and believed there to be a strong indication that the accused had committed the crime of bribery. The MP therefore handed the man to the Court of First Instance, which has now convicted him.
