Macau under yellow heat warning as temperatures soar

A yellow high-temperature warning is in effect as yesterday marked the solar term “xiao Shu,” translated as “minor heat,” which is the 11th of the 24 solar terms in the traditional Chinese calendar and the fifth of summer. Its arrival marks the onset of the hottest period of the year. The Taipa Grande station recorded a high of 34.5 degrees Celsius, the fourth highest “minor heat” temperature in Macau since 1952. The monitoring station also reported temperatures reaching 36 degrees or above. The Meteorological and. Geophysical Bureau forecasts continued hot weather with southwest airflow over the next two days, with highs of 33 degrees or more and possible showers.
