Mafia Returned

Wagyumafia returned to MGM Cotai last week. The brand is a disruptive force that took the elite world of Japanese wagyu and repackaged it with a rebellious, street-smart attitude. Through exceptional product quality, brilliant branding, and a charismatic leader, they created a global cult following for specific wagyu brands and democratised the ultimate luxury beef experience.

The name itself is a combination of “Wagyu” and “Mafia”. This reflects their ethos: an exclusive, almost secret-society-like club for devout worshippers of high-quality meat. They are known for their rebellious, anti-establishment attitude towards the traditional, often rigid, world of Japanese haute cuisine, presenting themselves as the “outlaws” of the wagyu world.

MDT’s favourite is the Katsu Sando, arguably their most famous creation. It’s a simple-seeming sandwich made with a thick, deep-fried cutlet of premium wagyu filet between crustless white bread with a tangy tonkatsu sauce. It exemplifies their philosophy: using the absolute best ingredient in a humble, iconic format.
