Eduardo dos Santos received China’s Premier in Luanda, March 2014
The President of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, was invited to pay an official visit to China, which should happen “very soon”, the Chinese ambassador to Angola announced Monday in Luanda.
At the end of a meeting with dos Santos, the ambassador said that the visit by the President of Angola at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, “will further deepen the cooperation between Angola and China,” which he described as “strategic.”
China has a community of more than 260,000 nationals residing in Angola, especially workers in major construction projects that are underway in the country, as well as businesspeople.
In addition, China buys nearly half of the oil that Angola exports, which in turn benefits from credit lines that have allowed it to start reconstruction of the country, following the end of the civil war in April 2002.
