Public hospital performs first artificial heart implant
A joint team from Conde de São Januário Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University successfully completed Macau’s first artificial heart implantation, as cited in a statement from the Health Bureau. The 68-year-old female patient, suffering from end-stage heart failure, recovered well, with symptoms resolved and normal activity restored. The lightweight, fully magnetic levitation device minimally affects daily life. Health authorities said the procedure fills a local treatment gap and provides a reliable alternative for patients ineligible for heart transplants.
