Taiwan maintains travel warning for SARs over ‘personal safety’ reasons

Taiwan has restated that Taiwanese travelers should carefully assess the need to go to mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) announced last week. This also comes following the US Department of State’s updated travel advice, recommending that Americans reconsider travel to China. The current yellow travel alert, which is equivalent to the US Travel Alert Level 3 (“Reconsider Travel”), is still in place. Taiwan said it will keep a travel warning issued for Hong Kong and Macau for personal safety reasons.
