Three plots of land to be released for sports grounds

Three plots of land in Zone A, Nam Van Lake, and Taipa – currently undeveloped – will be temporarily designated as free sports grounds available to the public.
The plan was announced by the Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Raymond Tam, during a legislative session yesterday.
According to his remarks, the three plots of land are as follows: Plot B13, located in Zone A; Plot C8, situated in Nam Van Lake near the Fire Services Bureau headquarters; and Plot BT7, located in Taipa near the School of the Nations. These plots cover areas of 15,785, 4,422, and 3,745 square meters, respectively.
Tam emphasized that these plots represent only the initial phase of the plan.
He stated: “It can be assured to all legislators that the government is actively seeking suitable sites for future development, with expectations that the number of plots will exceed eight or 10.”
However, according to the Secretary, the stage for an official announcement has not yet been reached, and details about the additional plots will be provided in due course.
“In fact, a review of some of the land currently available has been conducted to determine if any can be temporarily made accessible for use by schools or the public. Relevant research was carried out earlier […] While the search for additional sites is ongoing, the conditions are not yet favorable for disclosing any information to the public at this time,” Tam said.
Meanwhile, Tam also announced that, in response to local needs, the government will allocate some plots of land as temporary car parks. This includes the former Flying Eagle Training Center on Rua da Cordoaria in Coloane and social housing block Edifício D.ª Julieta Nobre de Carvalho Block B. These sites are expected to accommodate about 68 cars, and 45 cars and 40 motorcycles, respectively.
“When I was working at the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), residents of Coloane consistently expressed their desire for a permanent car park. If a permanent solution is not feasible, could a temporary car park be an option? In fact, we have considered both options. A potential site for a permanent car park has been identified, but it involves land clearing, which will take time,” he stated.
The detailed design will be announced later.
